Paola Navone
Paola Navone is one of those designers that really know how to make an impression. Born in Turin, Italy, Paola studied architecture before moving to Milan to pursue her career as a designer. Over the years, she has turned her hand to a great many roles within the field of design, including as an architect, interior designer, business consultant, restaurant and shop designer, exhibition organiser and lecturer. Having worked with clients such as Swarovski, Alessi and Habitat, she brings a wealth of knowledge and experience to her designs. Her passion for design and strident disregard for convention shine through in her work to produce exhilarating results. True Blue ADDICTION not only encapsulates Paola’s passion for design, but also pays homage to her love of the colour blue. She uses it in abundance in numerous pieces, from tiles to sofas, and now, to striking effect, in this stunning wallpaper collection. In a shade that is rich and warm, yet calming and serene, the colour blue makes a bold and beautiful statement for any room. In particular, PNO-01 is a wallpaper mural with a large painting of a fish that is just playful enough to work as nursery wallpaper, but which adapts well to a change of use. As to the fish motif, while it naturally sits well with the nautical blue shades, it has become Paola’s logo and a continued motif throughout her work. It seems fitting enough since her astrological sign is Pisces. Speaking about the bold and unique nature of her wallpaper design, Paola says: “I decided to put my fish on a large scale. It’s three meters high. I love things to be big! Big is beautiful. Most wallpaper is usually done as a repeat. My fish is one-off in the middle of a wall.” This collection will appeal to people who like to go bold and make a statement. More often now, consumers are choosing to express their tastes in much bolder ways. Naturally, if you love the colour blue or bold, fun patterns, you’ll probably love the ADDICTION collection. PNO-01 is a great design for a bathroom and would work wonderfully with a coastal or nautical theme. The designer’s warmth and passion really come through in the shade of blue that she uses. There is something about it that hints at Mediterranean seas and happy memories. It’s a shade that will warm up a room while still taking advantage of blue’s ability to create a calming space. To that end, Paola’s designs would make wonderful bedroom wallpaper or help to bring calm and creativity to an office space. Alternatively PNO-10 GERANI depicts a brick wall with perfectly placed pots of brightly coloured flowers in shades of red, orange and pink. This too would make fun nursery wallpaper or a cheerful design for a conservatory. Meanwhile, her SUPERMARKET wallpaper (PNO-09) makes an interesting and quirky option as kitchen wallpaper.
